(steddie | mature | wc: 1.1k | tags: spy au, spy boyfriends, established relationship | @steddielovemonth prompt: Love is sitting in comfortable silence together doing their own thing by @steddieasitgoes)
The sun beats down on a sprawling city below. Eddie Munson, an unassuming young man with unruly black curls pulled back in a loose bun, crouches on a nondescript rooftop overlooking the maze of buildings. It's hot as Satan's breath and he's sweating like a pig in his heavy leather jacket. Knowing that Chrissy was right when she told him to leave the jacket behind doesn't help his rapidly souring mood. He adjusts the high-powered binoculars pressed to his eyes and scans the streets again for his mark, just as he's been doing for most of the afternoon.
Through the scope, Eddie finally spots Jason Carver strolling casually along the crowded sidewalk, talking on his phone. Carver's movements are mundane, and he seems engrossed in a conversation that Eddie is sure is as boring as everything else he's seen Carver do since being assigned to the case.
With a deep sigh, Eddie thinks he's seen more action watching paint dry. He leans back against the edge of the roof, his posture betraying his growing impatience. He idly wonders what Steve is doing right now and wishes he could be spending time with his boyfriend instead of being boiled alive in the scorching sun and bored out of his mind. Hell, even watching Carver do jack shit would be better with Steve at his side. At least Eddie would have something pretty to look at.
"Why can't these guys have a more exciting life?" Eddie grumbles in frustration. Just then, he almost loses sight of Carver and thinks it's time to leave his vantage point and get some action.
But no. Carver simply disappears into a shop, from which he reappears seconds later to continue his leisurely stroll until he stops near a street vendor to inspect a selection of fruit. Eddie lowers the binoculars as the building excitement dies down and shakes his head in disbelief.
"Wow, exciting selection of apples you got there, asshole," Eddie mumbles in annoyance.
As boredom sets in, Eddie pulls out a small notepad and starts scribbling, creating a caricature of Carver munching on an apple. Chuckling to himself, he is only made aware of the presence of another person with him on the roof when their shadow falls on him.
Before he can fully process what's happening, his gun is aimed at the head of whoever snuck up on him.
"Oh baby, is that a gun or are you just happy to see me?"
Scowling, Eddie slowly lowers the gun until it's no longer pointed at the pretty face of his grinning boyfriend.
"What the hell are you doing here, Stevie? Please don't tell me Carver's your mark, too? You know what happened last time we had the same job. This time it's you who gets to sleep on the couch if I have to give up sex for the foreseeable future."
Steve laughs at his words, like it's funny how Eddie had to go weeks with Eden's forbidden apple winking at him in Steve's tight boxers, but not allowed to touch it, until he gave up and let Steve bag the job Eddie was also signed up for.
Being spies for competing agencies was bad enough, but when they ended up on the same job, things got ugly pretty fast. Eddie is still surprised that their love survived. Some days he even thinks it made them stronger as a couple.
He still doesn't feel like a repeat performance.
"Nah, don't worry. I told Robbie to make sure it doesn't happen again. Despite what you might think, I would rather not have us fighting as well. Although you have to admit, the make-up sex was amazing. One of our top five fucks. But I don't get enough time with you as it is, I want to enjoy what little I get. That's why I'm here. I thought I could keep you company, y'know. If you want me to, that is."
Steve shrugs as if he doesn't care either way, but Eddie knows his boy. He knows him well enough to see right through him, and he gives Steve a soft smile as he pulls him in with an arm around his waist.
He misses Steve, too. Since he started the Carver job, Eddie's hardly ever home, and when he is, 9 times out of 10 Steve isn't. It's frustrating. It makes Eddie reconsider civilian life, no matter how mundane it might be.
"It's not really exciting. Carver's looking at apples."
"I don't mind, Robbie and I are playing words with friends. I just prefer to sit here with you while we do it."
Eddie finally holsters his gun again before leaning forward and capturing Steve's mouth in a deep kiss.
When he resumes his position on the edge of the roof to continue his surveillance, Steve sits down next to him, his shoulder leaning against Eddie's thigh and his head resting on Eddie's hip.
The distant hum of city life surrounds them as they both go about their business in comfortable silence. Eventually Eddie checks his watch and realizes that hours have passed without anything substantial happening.
"I signed up for espionage, not rooftop babysitting," he grumbles to Steve, and his boyfriend hums in agreement. They both know that being a spy is not like the movies. It's weeks, sometimes months of nothing but watching and waiting.
His attention fades and he stares at the skyline, daydreaming about the record store on Elizabeth Street he passed a few weeks ago. The one he offered to buy without telling Steve. The wind ruffles his hair as he contemplates the surprisingly mind-numbing monotony of his current job and wonders what Steve would say if he offered him a different life. If Steve would keep doing a job that could get him killed one day, maybe sooner than later. If Steve also wondered if it was worth the risk now that he had something - someone - to lose.
Suddenly, Carver looks up at the sky, bringing Eddie back to reality. He watches as Carver adjusts his suit and walks toward a sleek black car parked at the curb.
"And it's on," Eddie says, adrenaline surging through his body. He presses a firm kiss to Steve's lips and whispers, "I love you, don't wait up," against them.
"I love you too. Be careful and don't let me wait too long, Robbie's already complaining about me whining all the time."
Eddie readies himself, folding up the notepad he had been scribbling on and tucking it away. As Carver's car pulls away, Eddie quickly follows, eager for the mission to be over so he can go home to his beautiful boyfriend and let his clever hands take him apart. When he looks back, the rooftop is deserted, with only the echo of the city's pulse in the air.

Hey tuna! :3 just a question or kinda of like a idea what if the entire kny cast meets ur kny!bsd cast? OR what if the bsd cast meets ur kny!bsd cast? (Also love the au btw ^^ )
hello <3!
THE ENTIRE CAST? DO YOU WISH DEATH UPON ME </3 that would be such a funny concept actually. i've thought of it before like uhm,....
thoughts below the cut because they ended up pretty long! i didn't cover everyone BUT if you'd like to hear my interpretation of certain characters meeting, just send an ask!
kunikida and rengoku would get along in a strange way. they're both reliant on books in their everyday lives and i'm sure they'd talk about it. kunikida would feel less crazy and also find kyojuro crazy for being able to become an accomplished swordsman by learning the rest of the fire breathing forms in only 3 volumes. kyojuro would find kunikida admirable for his rigid discipline in upholding his ideals through his notebook and his personal moral code. i think kyojuro would foot the bill if they eat together, and kunikida would be endlessly grateful.
kenji and tanjiro would be a UV hazard. in the bsd world, kenji would have to guide tanjiro around like a puppy, and tanjiro would be way too overwhelmed to be out in the Modern City for longer than 30 minutes. i think they'd make for excellent training buddies! tanjiro would definitely admire kenji's brute strength and find it fascinating that he has an active farm on the rooftop of their work building.
poe and zenitsu meeting would be hilarious i think.. zenitsu would actively cringe at this grown ass man for being down stupid for another man, and constantly writing for and sticking close to ranpo, but i think zenitsu would understand, given his clinginess to the kamado siblings. they'd also have an affinity for creating morbid works, because acc to kimetsu gakuen, zenitsu has a particularly scary art style, while poe actively writes murder mystery! post infinity-castle zenitsu would definitely ask poe to read the Legend of Zenitsu and be cooked alive by poe's disapproval.
atsushi and inosuke will not get along, period. even if they're bonding over food. i do not see it. atsushi would be reminded of akutagawa's petty nature everytime inosuke tries to start shit, and oh god i don't even want to imagine them brawling it up. i think the only time inosuke would possibly calm down is if atsushi cooked food for him, making him feel all fuzzy and reminding him of tanjiro's tenderness. though in terms of a physical brawl? inosuke would respect the hell out of atsushi if atsushi fights in his weretiger form, he probably thinks it's badass.
kyouka and kanao are telepathically bonding by the way. kyouka would introduce kanao to modern day sweets and i think they'd bond over cute trinkets and sweets. i bet you, they'd also talk about their sister figures (aoi and lucy), as well as the boys who saved them (tanjiro and atsushi). they'd trade hair accessories i'm sure.
ranpo would LOVE NEZUKO. the same way he treated kyouka when she first arrived at the agency, ranpo would spoil nezuko with sweets and they'd bond over their excessive sweet tooths. nezuko think ranpo's a friendly guy, and probably admires him like she admired mitsuri!
#tuna answers#kny!bsd au#thank you for the love!#my thoughts are more of like canon kny and bsd characters meeting#than canon and au meeting#that seems tough to think for! esp since i havent gotten around to releasing the comics yet

infodump about my unit swap AU!! mainly how the units formed :>
the idol group: Shizuku (leader), Ena, Tsukasa, Minori
Ena's photos on social media led to her being scouted by the same modelling agency that Shizuku worked for. they become good friends and both end up as idols at Cheerful Days. Shizuku quits earlier though, because Ena saw how the other members were treating her and almost immediately was like "err no, i'm not having that" and they both left, believing that their idol days were over
meanwhile, Tsukasa has decided to take a different path to stardom, aspiring to be a world-famous idol instead of an actor, somewhat inspired by his childhood friend. however, he isn't as successful, and similarly to Minori, many of his applications have been rejected. after Shizuku left Cheerful Days, learning of his bad luck, she tries to cheer him up by suggesting he join an unofficial group with herself and Ena. he accepts reluctantly, though insists it is temporary and that he will make it to a "real" idol group one day
Shizuku begins her second year of high school like Haruka in canon, going as a normal student. one day, she finds Minori on the rooftop practicing and is reminded of the most fun parts of being an idol. she offers to help Minori improve, and- having been missing Ena and Tsukasa since the two, while still friends, weren't able to talk as much once school started- contacts them to see if they'd like to help Minori out. Minori and Tsukasa, with their similar ambition and upbeat personalities, get along instantly and Minori is now the fourth member of their group
the online indie group: Kanade (leader), Saki, Ichika, Nene
the same circumstances led to Kanade starting to compose. one day, while bored and surfing the internet in hospital, Saki came across her music and started to write lyrics for it since it has resonated with her. she eventually decided to send her lyrics to this K person, who, to her surprise, responded, and even offered that Saki join her as a lyricist
once well enough to start high school, Saki excitedly tells Ichika all about her new hobby. Ichika still longs to bring their band from their childhood back together, but with little luck talking to Honami and Shiho, eventually joins Saki and Kanade's little group. she uses her guitar to add to Kanade's music and sometimes sings Saki's lyrics
Nene was still very much affected by what had happened in her middle school performance. yet, her desire to sing remained, even though she felt she could never face an audience again. one day, as she was listening to random music while gaming, a piece from K's group turned up. she stopped what she was doing and tried singing along to it- it fit her voice perfectly, as if it was made for her. with some encouragement from Rui, she made up her mind and asked if she could be a singer for their group. the other three, impressed by her clear skill, accepted
the theatre troupe: Emu (leader), Rui, Mizuki, Airi
Emu and Rui's meeting goes similarly to canon. desperately searching for cast members, Emu catches one of his illegal shows at PXL. she sees the park security before he does as he's distracted with his performance and whisks him away to the Wonder Stage, where she asks him to join her troupe. of course, he has no reason to refuse- and in addition, he has another possible member in mind. his old friend Mizuki, who would be great help with costumes, making the stage "cuter"- and something tells Rui that they'd make for a good actress too
the next rare occasion he sees them at school, he asks them to join. hearing of the state of the stage, as well as wanting to repay Rui for his company back then, Mizuki instantly agrees
meanwhile, Emu is on the hunt for more members at her own school. Airi, having quit her old work at this point, runs into Emu at one point. Emu recognises her from TV and excitedly tells the older girl that if she joins her troupe, she'll get the chance to make many people smile and spread hope. although it isn't exactly the idol future she wished for, Airi is convinced by Emu and becomes the main singer of the troupe whenever they do musicals
the street musicians: An, Akito, Haruka, Shiho
once An and Akito found out they had the same goal, they teamed up from the start and became a duo, so An didn't try to find a singing partner and Akito never ran into Toya singing, though i think they would still be decent friends through school, but not as close as canon
Haruka went through the same situation with Mai that led to her quitting as an idol. one day, wanting a change of scenery, she decided to meet up with An at Weekend Garage and when she arrived, she was greeted with her and Akito bickering over how they should sing lines in song. Haruka stepped in with her suggestions and the pair took a liking to her singing voice and asked if she wanted to join them. for a few days, Haruka was reluctant, but eventually gave into An's pleas and started singing with them on Vivid Street
while headed to the Miyajou music room to practice her bass, Shiho walked in on Haruka practicing her singing and was impressed by her work ethic. for a few weeks, they would practice songs together, Haruka singing along to the music Shiho played on the bass. eventually, after talking to An and Akito, Haruka invited Shiho to their group
Shiho was sceptical at first, and a bit put off by An and Akito's personalities when she first met them, but once she saw how serious they were about their goal, she felt she could relate to them a little with how driven they all were. Akito, inspired by Shiho's ability to both sing and play an instrument, decided to start learning the guitar
the band: Honami, Mafuyu, Kohane, Toya
Honami, even though she feels like it's a bit pointless since Saki, Ichika and Shiho have found different music groups, as well as not having the confidence to reach out to them all again, still continues to practice her drumming, even though she doesn't really know what her aim is
Mafuyu, not having ever come across K's music, hears Honami play one day as she walks past the school's music room. she senses a fellow person who doesn't really know what they're doing with their life and wordlessly enters and begins playing the piano in the room along with the drumming. Honami is surprised but doesn't stop. that is their routine for a while, simply playing the same song together without exchanging many words, but there's a silent understanding between them
Kohane did run into An's group practicing at Weekend Garage, but didn't return after running away the first time. however, her newfound interest in music remained and she visited the music room one day as Honami and Mafuyu were playing. she recognised the song and absentmindedly started to sing it as she stood by the doorway, accidentally catching their attention. however, Honami quickly stopped her from walking away and asked her if she'd like to continue singing along to their music
the three of them eventually became a band, but it did feel like something was missing. i'm going to say that in this AU, Mafuyu and Toya's parents are friends, so they know of each other. although Toya didn't particularly want to continue with classical music, he figured playing with people he could potentially befriend was much better than complete strangers, so when Mafuyu offers him a place in their group, he accepts. he becomes best friends with Kohane and agrees to become the violinist for their band. they often play at the Aoyagi house since it's got the most space
cross unit relationships
Rui and Nene: as childhood friends and neighbours, they are still extremely close despite not being in the same group. Rui is often in the background when Nene's on Nightcord calls. they share ideas with each other- though Nene does feel slightly down when she hears about everything Rui gets up to in his new theatre troupe as she somewhat wishes she was still able to join one
An and Kohane: never fear, Anhane will still occur despite them being in different units. Toya and Kohane head to Weekend Garage one day because Toya heard that their coffee was good and Kohane gets the opportunity to actually speak to An. they agree to stay in touch
Shizuku and Airi: they briefly met while they were both in the idol industry and remained good friends. Shizuku takes Airi's advice regarding being an idol and Airi is often inviting Shizuku to come see their shows. however, Shizuku always ends up lost, especially with the Wonder Stage in such an obscure location, so Airi has to send Rui to go looking for her- since he often plays the villain, he tends not to appear in performances until a bit later, giving him the time to go searching even when the show's due to begin
there are others but i am soooooooooo tired. this ended up well longer than expected

Sweet Dreams: just realized, since no one died and he got to start the joint agency like they planned, Aizawa is a lot less... Aizawa in this AU. Sure, he's still a snarky hardass, but he'd actually be a better teacher than canon (if he ever decided to work at UA, mayhaps if Kayama started working there and passed out invitations...)
Yeah Aizawa doesn't have serious survivor's guilt weighing on him, or leading him to do things like threatening children with expulsion. Though he would perhaps be even less likely to take up a teaching position in an AU where the Rooftop Trio have their own agency

More Betrothal AU Thoughts (Future-Life)
Despite Nancy's grand plan of pushing off the wedding as far as she can, they end up getting married two years into their college career. After all the drama with the Upside Down, and the work they've done to make their relationship work, (plus Ted's generous wedding fund and Karen's impressive planning skills), they decide to go ahead with the marriage during the summer between their second and third years at Emerson. Coincidentally, this also gives them the option to pursue even more scholarships and grants that were only available to married couples.
They get married in San Francisco, and fall in love with the city while they're there. Robin's particularly interested in the LGBTQ+ community (which is obviously a bit different considering the ABO aspect), and Nancy arranges some meetings for her own future career opportunities. Considering Dr. Owens is able to get them the very best references for job applications, they're nearly guaranteed whatever job they want.
After graduation, they move out to San Francisco. Coincidentally, Max and Lucas go to college there, and they live with them during the school year- keeping a close connection with their friends that are now scattered across the country at various Universities. (Dustin gets into UC Berkley with Suzie and they visit quite often as well).
They get two cats, a pair of kittens that randomly show up in their rooftop garden one night. It's still a mystery how they got there, but Robin was enamored with them from the very first moment, and Nancy quickly works in pet supplies into their budget.
They do end up having children, although it's nearly a decade after getting married. Their first is born when they're 31, and their second (a surprise baby) is born three years later. Considering Nancy never really wanted a large family, she's quite happy with what they have (but please no more, she hasn't slept in two years).
The second pregnancy is hard on Robin, and the delivery was very traumatic. She had to stay in the hospital for an extra two weeks after giving birth, and Karen flew over to help Nancy take care of her two grandchildren while Robin was recovering.
Dr. Owens is their 'family physician,' since the government wants to keep an eye on them in case there was any issues considering their exposure to the Upside Down. The oldest kid starts to show signs of telekinetic abilities in her toddler years, and it freaks them out. Luckily, El is able to help teach them how to control it so things don't randomly move or explode.
Robin ends up working as a translator for news agencies, and helps reporters and investigative journalists interview people. This allows her to work when she wants, since she gets to 'pick' when she's available. She usually works with Nancy, and a lot of 'work-trips' they go on end up being mini-vacations as well.

this thought has haunted me for months now so. what do you think would have happened if mmj went on and formed without haruka?
as in, either the show in stage sekai where the rest of the girls supported her as she climbed back up on stage never happened, or Haruka saw the show but her anxiety still paralyzed her too much and she just. Couldn't join them, or when Shizuai made their pact to become idols together again (right before Haruka delivers her "I have nothing more to give/convey" bombshell) Haruka refuses on the onset and no matter how the girls reach out to her she runs away again and again until she can't be found anymore. And then in the Haruka-less mmj that might follow, what changes compared to canon? Does Minori try to keep on reaching out to Haruka, more and more, and what becomes of those efforts?
...would mmj even have formed without haruka?
Things that keep me up at night....
;; IM GOIMG TO GET YOU. ouggggh haruka kiritani the they you are
;; mmj might've formed without haruka but, given she was the one to suggest working together, it would take longer. after the shizuai pact, those two really have no problems with helping minori practice on the rooftop, but even with professional help, she did get rejected. at some point airi and shizuku would end up following their pact and minori would probably join them. so there's a possibility of those three being agency idols? but livestreaming is equally as likely. alternative start to the cloverclub au 💥💥💥 WHAAAAAAAAT WHO SAID THAT. /silly
;; canon changed off the top of my head: hopeful show wouldn't happen in the way it does, airi shizuku and minori have no context with nanamin without haruka. -> same with worldwide wander since nanamin is the one who gets them in contact with the venue. something about colour of myself changes but i cannot remember what. painful hope.. haruka could empathise with riho because of her experiences. the other three tried but couldn't fully understand it.. in re-tie friendship, minori would never have her talk with haruka and get the clue that airi is lonely because of her idol work. there's probably more but i cannot remember
;; minori would keep reaching out, we're talking about minori "If you really like something, you can't just give it up! If you keep trying, I'm sure things will go well...!" and "(I need to keep trying...! More! More! More!)" hanasato. but for as much as minori is determined, haruka is three times as stubborn so whether anything would come of them.. eventually.. probably.
;; HARUKA KRITIANI BWKBEFQKWBGEKG OUGJ this is going to haunt me now
#listening to mmj while writing this and stain busters started playing. vsjqdjgqdgjgd#<- karakuri pierrot also played!#meowtual#i already had one canon divergent mmj fic idea.. now i really wanna write this..#this got really really rambly sorry;;;;

Started another project because I literally can't stop myself now. Remember all that time ago when I proposed the idea of a Bdubs secret agent au? Well I wrote it.
It's called The Flowers in Your Eyes and I'm really excited for it! I'll post the first chapter here, and the rest will be on my ao3.
Chapter 1: Hail to the King
CW: death, gun violence Words: 3,843
Hidden deep within Aquatown, far from the prying eyes of the public is a warehouse. Its unassuming looks often turn people away, a simple stone facade with a metal shingle roof. The inside is always dark whether night or day. Maybe at one time it had been used for storage or anything normal, but now it has a completely different purpose.
Just below this warehouse lies a complicated door guarded by snarling dogs and a woman with a stoic expression that never leaves her face. If deemed worthy the door will open, leading to dozens more security measures. Fingerprint scanners, passcodes, and various other tasks lie in wait before any of the other doors can be open. Only after all these tests are passed is the final door opened, and the facade of the warehouse is completely stripped away.
Hermitcraft Environmental Protection, otherwise known as HEP, is both a well known and mysterious agency. To the broad public it’s merely a protection group. Volunteers in orange shirts take to the streets once a week and clean Aquatown of any dangerous substances that may threaten the town. HEP is happily spearheaded by the gracious mayor of the town. With his gleaming smile, and genuine love for his town there is no doubt in the trustworthiness of HEP. After all, how bad can a single company really be?
To the unfortunate few in the city that are aware, HEP is far from an environmental force. The true HEP is still mostly unknown, a select few know surface level details, but no one besides enemies and those on the inside are truly aware of HEP’s activities. Most of those who know about the true intentions of the agency usually don’t last long enough to tell another soul anyways.
Mysterious assassinations of greedy politicians, distribution of various drugs, intelligence gathering and many other shady tasks regarding the city falls on the shoulders of those working at the true HEP. It’s not a glamorous job, but it does pay well, and once you’re in you can never really get out. Well you can, but it usually it's in a coffin.
At the center of HEP is the mysterious agent known as DoubleO. He has been in his position from the very start of the agency, appointed by the mayor himself. While many were skeptical at first, he quickly proved his abilities. With dozens of recorded eliminations and countless unrecorded, there has never been an agent that has come close to his level of proficiency. Despite all attempts of less than savory parties, no one has been able to find a single bit of information on this person, and they never will.
DoubleO stands on a rooftop, his jacket whipping in the wind that funnels through gaps in the nearby buildings. He’s only two stories up, a fall that he can take easily, in fact he intends on taking it soon. Just down the street is a brightly lit bar full of college students. Their loud voices fill the block, and it makes him smile. It’s always good to have some good cover sound. Missions done in absolute silence always have him so much more on edge.
With a sigh he sits down, his entire back popping with the movement. Void, he really needs to go to his chiropractor, it’s been far too long since he got put in place and he could benefit from it now. He slides his gloves on, stretching his fingers to make sure they don't hinder his mobility in any way. The white fabric shines under the moonlight, but it doesn't catch his eye. It never does.
He slides his briefcase across the tiled rooftop towards him, unlocking it with a simple key. There’s a slight click as he flips open the latches and takes in the sight of the weapon before him. His eyes scan the contents for only a moment before he’s grabbing parts. With practiced motions he puts every piece in place, not even needing to double check his work.
Maybe a year ago he would have checked again and made sure that all the pins were done correctly, but now he has no doubt in his skills. It takes barely a minute to have the gun wholly assembled and balanced on the edge of the building. He pulls himself into position, laying across the tile.
The back of the gun is placed firmly against his shoulder as he moves the scope to be perfectly aligned. A voice sounds in his ear, but he doesn’t jump or even twitch despite the loud volume.
“DoubleO, the target is three minutes out, coming from the south. Black sedan, middle seat in the back row. There are three guards with him, others ready to be on site in minutes.”
“Got it X.” He says curtly, not wanting to say any more than he needs to on the rare chance that someone is in the alley below him. It would be unfortunate to add another unofficial name to his little black book, so he tries his best to keep himself inconspicuous.
He doesn’t move at all in the span of two minutes, only flexing his fingers over the trigger to make sure they don't get too tense. He’s learned from his previous mistakes to not hold them tight against the metal. As X gives him the one minute warning he begins his routine.
Breathe in for ten, then out for fifteen.
Relax the shoulders, and let them drop right into place.
Pull the pointer finger to the trigger and simply wait with held breath.
Not once in his three years of doing this has he broken this routine, and it has never failed him in return. Well, once it did. But he doesn't count that circumstance.
The black sedan pulls up to the sidewalk and the only person who steps out is a large man in the passenger seat. He pulls a radio to his mouth, scanning the streets for signs of anyone. Not once do his eyes find DoubleO’s scope. Only when he deems it clear does he knock on the window.
The two guards exit next, standing on both sides of the target as he finally emerges. His head glows in the moonlight, a lack of hair being a very reflective surface. He’s taller than both the guards at his side. At that observation DoubleO’s mouth turns up into a smile. Fantastic.
To the guards’ credit, they do a rather good job at keeping the target well covered. Unfortunately for them DoubleO is better than rather good at his job. He doesn’t let them even take a step, aiming directly where the moon shines on a hairless scalp.
It takes seven and a half pounds of pressure to pull the trigger on this particular rifle and he does it with ease. The back hits his shoulder harshly as a boom rings out across the street. He only takes a second to make sure the target is down before dropping his head and rolling to the side. The guards shout as they try to place where the shot had even come from.
By the time they figure out the building, DoubleO is already at the far edge. He rolls over it without a second thought, angling himself to favorably hit the ground. A slight weightlessness comes over him before rudely being interrupted by concrete. Still he takes it in stride, rolling into his feet with little effort.
The second he’s on the ground he’s pulling off the gloves and all his layers. They are neatly folded in his hands as he walks, his eyes focused on an old beat up Honda parked on the street. By the time he’s stripped of all identifying clothing he’s at the car. Without as much as a misstep in his gait he drops the clothes and his earpiece in the open window, barely nodding at the man inside.
The whir of a window rolling up fills his ears as he tugs his light gray sleeves down. The fabric is itchy on his skin, the seams in all the wrong places. Just as he hears yells echoing on the street, he ducks into the still rowdy bar. The bartender catches his eyes immediately and gives an almost imperceptible nod.
DoubleO picks a seat at the end of the bar and before he’s even down, the bartender has placed a half filled bottle of beer and a laptop before him. The seat is uncomfortable, a velvet lined backless barstool. Still he leans forward, pulling his elbows onto the bar. One hand wraps around the neck of the beer, and the other holds his face up.
The sweatshirt on his back bears the mascot of the nearby college, and on his laptop is a partially finished homework assignment. With almost no effort he blends right into the crowd of partying students. Just as he raises the bottle to his lips does he see the guards from before in his peripheral.
There’s much more than three and he’s almost impressed how quickly they mobilized. Still he focuses his gaze back to the laptop, lazily eyeing the problems in front of him. It’s chemistry, and immediately his face turns in disgust. The bartender smiles at his expression and leans forward on the counter.
“You regretting taking chemistry yet?” He asks casually, tapping his fingers against the bar. His eyes barely dart to the door, but DoubleO’s stay directly where they are. “I’ve been told that professor is an absolute nightmare .”
So there’s two of the guards entering the bar. DoubleO enthusiastically nods before taking another swig of the beer. It hits the bar top hard as he throws his hands out in an annoyed way.
“Every day I wish that I took psychology.” He sighs, then goes for another drink, making a show when he realizes the bottle is empty. An exhausted exhale leaves him as his whole body deflates onto the bar. “While I’m doing this dumb research paper, they’re doing nice little group projects. My dad was right, I shouldn't have gone into the sciences.”
He barely catches the way the seat two away from him settles. One of the guards sits heavily, rubbing his eyes as he waves the bartender over.
“I’ll take whatever he’s having.” The guard sighs, waving his hand towards DoubleO.
“Good choice.” The bartender says, grabbing two bottles from below the bar. One goes to DoubleO and one goes to the guard.
He starts to lay the act on hard, annoyed that the guard is sitting there and not just doing a quick sweep like he should be.
“Hey Ed,” DoubleO pauses, drunkenly waving his hand over his beer. “Wait, that's your name right?” When the bartender starts to correct him he just shakes his head and talks even louder. “Whatever. Did you know that with my gpa I could have gone to any college I wanted? But my dumb parents wanted me to stay close or whatever. I could have gone to like Harvard or somethin’, Harvard Ed.” He emphasizes every syllable, making a complete fool of himself as he slurs over random words.
Ed only rolls his eyes, pulling the beer away from him before he can take another sip.
“I think I might have to cut you off kid, that’s one too many when you’re supposed to be doing homework.”
So the other guard has left, it’s go time.
“Hey, that's unfair.” DoubleO whines, leaning over the bar to try and grab the bottle back. “You can’t do that.”
“Yes I can and I am. Now go home.” The bartender turns, setting the bottle on the second to right coaster. DoubleO notes it with pursed lips and then dramatically flops onto the bar. After a few seconds he props his head up, glancing up at the guard through half lidded eyes.
“Hey man.” He pokes the guard, giggling at the harsh glance he gets back. “Do you have any cigarettes? I promise I’ll like pay for your beer or somethin’, but I ran out and I am way too drunk to get some more . ” He sings that last part, internally cringing.
The guard sighs before nodding, casting a look at Ed who points to the no smoking sign. “Let’s head outside, kid.”
DoubleO stands quickly, then almost falls directly on his face. The guard reaches out and grabs his arm, pulling him to his feet.
“Thanks mister, you’re nicer than my own parents ya know?” He mumbles as they exit the bar. DoubleO leads them into the alley beside it, greedily reaching out. “They hate smokin’, said it’ll give me cancer or somethin’. So I told them I’ll become a chemist and cure cancer so I can smoke all I want.”
He laughs heartily at his own words. The guard finally drops his wall a bit, giving him a placating smile and reassuring words.
“Hey did you see someone come in that bar in the last few minutes?” The guard says as he pulls a cigarette from the box. DoubleO all but rips it from his hands, and holds it to the lighter the guard produces. He makes a show of thinking as he pulls the cigarette to his lips.
“Uhhhhhh.” He leans against the wall, blowing the smoke right into the guard’s face with a laugh. “There was this one guy, all shady lookin’. He went to the bathroom after almost makin’ me spill my beer on myself. I was so mad.”
Gotcha.
The second the guard turns to look back at the alley entrance, DoubleO is moving. He drops the cigarette and reaches out, wrapping his forearm around the guard’s neck. His other hand comes up to stabilize the chokehold.
“Shhhh.” He hushes the gurgling man, slowly dragging him back towards a now opening door. His smile is wide as he rolls his eyes. “You’re gonna blow my cover.”
The bartender has opened the back door, holding it open as DoubleO drags the almost unconscious guard into the break room. He only tightens his grip when they’re out of the open space, and waits until the man goes limp against him. The second he does, he drops him, letting him fall into a heap of limp limbs and cigarette smoke.
“X is gonna be happy about this one.” The bartender looks down at the guard with an uncomfortable smile. “He was just complaining about how they were getting no info from Mr. Bright, but this should make his day.”
DoubleO rubs his eyes as he searches for something to tie the guy’s hands with. “I’m so glad he’s gonna be happy.” He says dryly, drawing out the so. “But tell him I hate the freaking bar jobs. Acting drunk is the absolute worst.”
“You’re so good at it though.”
“Oh shut up Mumbo.”
Mumbo only rolls his eyes, pulling the edge of his mustache with his fingers. “It’s not like we had much of a choice in the matter. He wasn’t supposed to sit down. He saw your face for far too long.”
“I know, I know.” DoubleO gripes, finally finding a length of rope that he fastens around the man’s wrists. “I have a dinner to get to tonight and this was supposed to be a quick in and out.”
“I’m sure Scar will understand.” Mumbo says. There’s a beat of silence and then the two erupt in laughter. Mumbo has to wipe his eyes afterwards, curling over his stomach.
“Sometimes you’re the funniest guy I know, Mumbo.” DoubleO chuckles, lightly punching the other man’s shoulder. “Do you think you can handle this guy until they pick him up?”
“Yeah.” Mumbo sighs, lightly kicking the man over. “I already called X so the team should be on their way soon.”
“Alright then I’m gonna dip. I gotta hurry if I want to get to dinner at a reasonable time.” DoubleO crosses the room, pulling the handle of the door. “I’m so screwed.”
“Alright I’ll see you around.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
There’s a motorcycle waiting just around the back of the bar when DoubleO turns the corner. He pulls the helmet on and curses X under his breath.
“You couldn’t have gotten me a car or something?” He mutters. “I’m gonna have to fix my hair and I’m already running late…”
He continues to complain to himself as he gets on the bike and kicks it on. The purr of the engine does settle him down a bit, and he quite enjoys speeding through the back alleys until he can merge onto a main road.
He checks his watch and sighs, pulling off onto a side street. He definitely doesn’t have time to go back to his apartment, so one of his safehouses will have to do. A lack of a shower doesn’t sit well with him, but he’s already far too late.
He basically runs through the parking garage, pulling the helmet off as he rushes through the seemingly abandoned building. The keypad has dust gathering on its keys as he punches in the code, and he hastily wipes his finger on his shirt. There’s no way he’s wearing this to dinner with the freaking mayor.
Luckily he’s prepared for these circumstances and finds much nicer clothes in the safe house. White button up and black slacks go on quickly, his shoes are still trainers, but he’ll have to make do. He musses his hair in the mirror and groans at the way the helmet pressed strands of it down it stupid ways. Whatever, he’s got to go anyway.
The bike is nice enough to calm his mood and by the time he pulls up to the building he’s feeling much better. The woman in the lobby waves at him as he passes like she always does, and he nods like every other time. When he enters the elevator there’s no buttons, but it starts to rise all the same.
This is really the only time he gets nervous honestly. Scar has always made him feel that way, and it wasn’t even really his fault. Just how things have played out up until this point still has the agent taking calming breaths before their meetings. He does a once over of his clothes in the reflective surface of the elevator and fusses over his collar before the ding of the door brings him back to where he is.
He clears his throat once before stepping out, marveling at the view just beyond him. The mayor was quite good at pulling strings, and so they would meet in this random skyscraper that DoubleO doesn’t think actually belongs to a company. They dine at the top floor with tinted windows and sound canceling walls. This is where the business is done.
His eyes flit over the Aquatown and then finally settle on the man sitting at the table just by the window. His hands are crossed over his chest, an obviously fake smile on his face. Once he meets DoubleO’s eyes he pointedly looks down at his own watch.
“Sorry Scar.” He apologizes, sitting across the table with him as quickly as he can. The white napkin in front of him goes on his lap as he actively avoids looking at the mayor. “Mr. Bright’s guards ended up being more of a nuisance than we thought. We did manage to get one for interrogation though, so overall I think it worked out.”
The mayor simply hums as he sips a red wine from his glass. The scar on his cheek pulls and DoubleO looks away quickly.
“I guess I can excuse it.” There’s a joking tone to his voice, but DoubleO knows Scar well enough that he can tell he’s not amused. “Is all that business going to be wrapped up then?”
DoubleO nods quickly, grabbing his own glass with slightly shaky hands. Weirdly enough these meetings always feel like having dinner with guardians after getting in trouble. He tries not to dwell on that though.
“After the interrogation we should be good, I was going to follow up on the Glasby family as their ties with Bright are too large to ignore. I-”
“That’s actually why I called you here today.” He falls silent as Scar speaks. “I’m assigning you to a long term undercover mission starting next week. All the information you need is in these files here.”
He pushes a rather large stack of papers towards DoubleO, who can only stare at Scar in shock. His mouth is wide open as he blinks, sure he’s heard it wrong.
“Me? Undercover?” His voice is slightly hoarse so he clears his throat. “You know that I don't really do that sort of thing. I’m sure Mumbo would be really happy to do it. That’s like his whole thing.”
“Mumbo is working on the new MooPop factory with Cub and Tango. Believe me, I’ve thought through all the options and I am confident that you can pull this off.” Scar puts his hand out, his tone softening just a bit as the agent grabs it. “You used to love undercover work, just remember that you’re the best for a reason. I didn’t take you off the streets just for you to doubt yourself like this.”
“What if I mess up again?”
Scar’s eyes darken for just a moment, his fingers squeezing tightly against DoubleO’s. Then just as quickly as it came, it disappears. “You won’t. I believe in you.”
DoubleO’s entire frame relaxes against the chair as he nods. “Alright, give me a rundown.”
Scar beams at his words and grabs some papers of his own.
“It’s much more detailed in the files, but this here is your target.” He scans the picture, seeing a pretty regular looking guy. The only really weird things are his white hair and the rather large scar over his left eye and spanning down his cheek. “His name is Etho Slab, at least that’s what he says it is. We are confident he’s a Mycelium Resistance member, and a quite high level one at that.”
DoubleO sucks in a breath, suddenly seeing the man with new eyes. There’s a slight feeling of familiarity, like he’s seen those eyes before.
“We’re dropping you in as a store owner that’s attached to a cafe he regularly goes to. Your apartment will also be relatively close as well. The goal is to become friends with him, get him convinced you want to join the resistance when he eventually spills, then get all the information you can.”
“Why don't I just nab him at the cafe and we get the information ourselves? I bet X could get it out of him.” DoubleO asks, leaning against the table with an elbow.
“With his status it’s highly unlikely we’ll get anything from him. That group is stubbornly loyal, so you just need to find a way to join in, get the information, and get out.”
“Sounds easy enough.” DoubleO says dryly.
“Exactly!” Scar exclaims.
“I was kidding. This is going to be awful.”

My solution to absolutely everything that troubles me late at night is to yell to the rooftops about whatever has my interest, be it yapping off in my brain or reaching out to my bros. But tonight I decided “here we go I’m giving up my wack ass AU to Tumblr” as my coping skill.
It’s an age swap au mostly centered around DazAtsu (this is your cue to leave if your not here for that) and the 18 Dazai navigating through grief and life in the agency, along side his strange growing feelings towards Atsushi that he just can’t seem to name. the way I see it is that since him and Atsushi have swapped ages, it’s either his past would have taken place much earlier or he would have just skipped the years in hiding and gone straight to the other side like Oda had wished of him.
I’ve actually had two fanfictions written for it so far that have almost NOTHING to do with adjusting to his life because of inconsistency but I will still post the first one as well as the second one hoping I didn’t just copy paste the same exact link twice. Funny story I actually came up with this thanks to taking part in the 2023 DazAtsu week over on twitter before I deleted the app and account, it came with a art piece I’ve featured previously on here, those are (kind of) their designs but those aren’t the updated ones. God now that I’m thinking about it I’ve been cooking this up for MONTHS and haven’t said or done much of anything on it publicly.
Actually while I’m on my tangent here is the doodles, showcasing them mostly
The next one is an unfinished piece I made for them
I leave a lot of things unfinished in terms of both art and writing. But, without further adeiu here’s some little facts I managed to keep bouncing in my pinball machine of a brain:
• Dazai had been in contact with Ranpo after Oda’s death and received an offer to become a detective. While waiting by the iconic river for who he thought was Ranpo intrusive thoughts struck him and he jumped into the water. Atsushi fished him out and gave him his coat.
• he’s been stealing that damn huge coat any chance he gets ever since
• Dazai had one of Oda’s shirts, it became a source of comfort after his friend’s death to the point he just hardly took it off.
• Atsushi’s attire, though hardly professional is actually acceptable considering what his ability does to clothes.
• Yosano, Dazai, and Kyouka all share a close somewhat familial bond over their dealings with the port mafia and Mori. Yosano also has a spare key to Dazai’s dorm incase he relapses.
• Dazai still cannot cook for shit no matter how people try to teach him, not even his mentor crush Atsushi is successful in doing so.
• Dazai always feels intimidated by Fukuzawa, and tries his hardest to avoid eye contact with him afraid he’ll disrespect him.
• the dynamics of skk and sskk are mostly unchanged other than sskk being both wiser between themselves, and skk being two feral little shits that need to be put in cages.
not sure if I mentioned Chuuya and Akutagawa being swapped like Dazai and Atsushi. Oops.
Look at that you got to the end, feels good? Bad? Well you got here anyways. I quite enjoyed rambling to the walls of my enclosure hoping to be given a piece of cheese, I actually forgot about my stresses for a moment whilst i ran to go grab my sketches. ‘Twas nice, happy holidays you crazy people who decided to read this post.
#bungou stray dogs#dazatsu#bsd#dazai osamu#atsushi nakajima#bungo stray dogs#bsd atsushi#bsd dazai#age swap au#dontknowwhattocallitbutilikeit au#this is a mess#I like it messy#this was fun#I should ramble more often like this lmao

Just gonna show my whole-ass kink here, don't mind me. Can I get some headcanons for vampire Telltale Riddler with a fem reader who is a vampire hunter? She's lasted longer than most of the arrogant hunters who come after him, and she even respects him as a foe! But she's so damn flippant when they fight. Absolutely the sassiest person he's ever met. BUT THE SEXUAL TENSION IS THERE. You know the Straight On scene from Strange Magic? That's the dynamic.
"Who is hunting who?" vampire!Telltale Riddler x Vampire Hunter f!Reader
We love when people show their whole-ass kink. It's the only way to do it! Also you know I'm VERY aware of that scene from Strange Magic. A bit longer because I had to write some actual action.
TW: vampire au, mentions of cannibalism
At first he was certain you must be some form of idiot to try tangling with him. Too many arrogant hunters came out of the woodwork once he came back to town- He ripped their throats out. Your first meeting was him practically picking flesh from his teeth. You once saw him crudely raise the dead to do his bidding, a sight that sent most packing!
Yes, you must have been stupid... so he thought. If you were truly an incompetent like he thought, you wouldn't have lasted this long. Your little spats had ended at a constant draw, one or both of you escaping to continue the fight another time.
It was obvious you had come to respect him in some sense. Perhaps even admire him? He told himself it was the only thing keeping you alive. Certainly it wasn't that mouth. You always had some smart ass comeback. Some witty retort that showed your cockiness and youth.
You were, in fact, the last person he wanted to run into when conducting the business he was tonight. A meeting with other vampires to discuss their attack on The Agency. As he stood on the rooftop awaiting them, he could hear a distant whistling... When he stepped aside, a silver arrow whizzed past his head to land into a nearby wall.
There you stood, crossbow in hand, grinning at him.
"Ah. It's you. I apologize, but I simply can't play with you today," He attempts to wave you off, "Find some other vampire to tolerate you tonight, little girl."
Your response was quick, "Oho? Scared I'll kick your ass, 'old man'?"
Eddie rolled his eyes. Looked at his watch. Fifteen minutes. Perhaps he could get you to back away in that time. Easily, he pulled the arrow out of the wall... before sending it back towards you.
You should have been prepared- Yet it cut into your arm just so, causing you to drop the crossbow. The vampire took this opportunity to leap to the air and come down upon you with claws... Which met the thin-but-tough metal and leather of your bracers.
"Always prepared, are you?" he asked, his claws raking too close to comfort to your face.
Your laugh was nervous yet distinct, "What can I say, you keep me on my toes! I wasn't expecting you to be out like this, though. Usually you're much harder to find!" From your hip, you pulled a vial of some sort, smashing it to the ground.
He wasn't sure exactly the compound, but it made his eyes blur with tears. He rolled away, just in time for you to thrust forward with a knife blade. Eddie couldn't help but quip, "And somehow you're doing better than I would have thought possible. Taking tips from yours truly?"
Your face leans back away as his hand swings his cane outward towards you in retaliation. A small spark of metal on metal as your knife comes into contact with the sharpened question mark at the end of his weapon. You try to regain your balance... only to find him dissolving into smoke before your eyes-
As he reappears, it's behind you, his hand shoving you forward and his cane reeling you back towards him. A scream strangles out of your throat as you feel the pointed edge cut into your abdomen. Finally, you'd gotten just that touch too arrogant and took the bait before you were really ready to fight him in open space.
Yet even as he tried to approach you, your blood dripping off his cane, you tried to sweep his legs out from under him. It surprised him just long enough for you to scramble to your crossbow. By the time he caught up to you, it was pointed at his face.
You winced, "I'm not on the menu tonight. Sorry to disappoint you." Both of you stood at a standstill. Both of you easily able to kill the other in this moment. He seemed to be thinking over his options.
The man leaned forward, "...Too bad. You would have been a delicacy." He waits for you to lower the crossbow before continuing, "Now... girl, I really do have business to conduct-"
"(y/n)." You managed to sputter, "My name is (y/n). Not..." A pained expression on your face as you moved.
He rolled his eyes, "You expect me to remember your name? Just like that?" As if you held any importance to him. You were very aware if you didn't, you would already have been dead.
"You seem to remember everything else." Your voice is quiet. He was catching on to your fighting style. You'd have to mix it up if... if you were going to continue this, "You should know the name of the person whose going to- Um-" You were a bit lost in thought.
"Ah, and all the banter has left you." Quickly, he pulls you up. It's not rough or hurtful- If anything, his arms about you make you feel secure.
A door nearby opens and he's pulling you nearby behind the wall of the stairwell structure on the roof. You hear other vampires coming out and feel your breath hitched. You see the way his body almost seems to be shielding yours. Perhaps it was the tension... Perhaps it was the blood loss. Either way, you found yourself pulling the man to a kiss.
a kiss, you noted, he had no intentions of getting away from. He deepened the embraced, seemingly curious of your reactions. His tongue brushing over the bottom of your lips. You moaned in pain as his fingers found the wound on your abdomen, his other hand holding you steady. The sensation mixed with pleasure had you slightly hazy.
When you broke away, he was licking your blood off his fingers. His statement was simple, "Payment. Run along now, young lady. And... don't be stupid next time. You were just beginning to impress me." He walks past you to go speak to his colleagues.
You sneak away in a vague sense of shame. Why did you- Why did he- Better to heal up and answer the hard questions later.
He hummed as the last speckles of your blood soaked to his tongue. Yes... delicious.

Annalisa Lombardo, Haiti country director at Welthungerhilfe, a non-governmental aid agency, has been living in the Caribbean nation for 15 years. Asked why she is still in Haiti considering the many crises it has faced over the years, she told DW: "I call this country home, fell in love with its people, they are my people, moun pam, as they say in Creole, and I am not ready to turn my back on them."
Lombardo did, however, close the Welthungerhilfe office in the capital, Port-au-Prince, earlier this week for security reasons.
"I decided that, as a matter of precaution, none of our colleagues should take the risk to traveling the road," she told DW.
"Taking the road used to be risky because of kidnappings, hold ups, stray bullets when there are clashes between gang members and the police, but lately — as the tension has grown, also because if you happen to cut through a neighborhood that is not yours and somebody believe[s] you look suspicious — you risk being lynched for no further reasons."
UN issues stark warning
Over a dozen suspected gang members were lynched in Port-au-Prince by a mob on Monday. The attack happened in public and in broad daylight. According to Haitian media, an enraged mob forced individuals off a bus before stoning them and ultimately burning them alive.
The incident marks yet another level of escalation to the violence that has rocked the Haiti for months. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has gone so far as to call for international forces to be dispatched to Haiti to restore order. In the latest UN report on Haiti, Guterres even warned that insecurity in Port-au-Prince "has reached levels comparable to countries in armed conflict."
Lombardo sees no way out of the crisis. Several weeks ago, Welthungerhilfe in Haiti joined other organizations such as Care, Plan International and World Vision in publishing a desperate appeal calling on the international community to send help.
Lombardo told DW they want to see humanitarian intervention. "The re-establishment of the state of law is a necessity, she said, adding that the security of the city neighborhoods, of strategic points such as the fuel terminals and major roads, also needs to be ensured."
A desperately poor country
Lombardo can rattle off countless figures that illustrate the full extent of the misery that is blighting the impoverished country. Nearly half of Haiti's 11.5 million people depend on humanitarian assistance. Some 90% of Haitians in rural areas live below the poverty line, according to the World Bank, with almost one in four living in extreme poverty.
Cholera has flared up again, too, with 670 deaths and 35,000 suspected cases so far — mostly among children. Only about half of households in rural areas have access to clean drinking water, and open defecation is still practiced by about a third of the rural population, exposing people to significant health risks.
As if the humanitarian situation were not worrying enough, the country is experiencing ever more extreme violence. Marauding gangs have a chokehold on Port-au-Prince in particular.
The UN's Special Representative for Haiti, Maria Isabel Salvador, even flew to New York to brief the Security Council on the current situation and present the UN report.
Gang violence is surging at "an alarming rate in areas previously considered relatively safe" in Port-au-Prince, she said at the briefing on Wednesday. Compared to the first quarter of 2022, criminal incidents — homicide, rape, kidnappings and lynching — more than doubled in the same period in 2023 to 1,647, she said, citing figures from Haitian police and the UN.
According to the report, rooftop snipers "frequently fired at people in their residences or in the streets." It also cites attack in which a 16-year-old girl was raped by multiple gang members in broad daylight, one of dozens of documented attacks.
The report finds children are often abducted near schools, then forced to shuttle munitions to warring gang members, load weapons or carry out attacks.
The gang violence is also affecting people's access to essential services. For example, the Albert Schweitzer Hospital, which serves about 700,000 people, had to suspend services two months ago due to security risks, according to the UN report, released on April 14.
Around 130,000 internally displaced people are currently scattered throughout the capital city, the report says, which also documents the fates of hundreds of pregnant and nursing women deported back to Haiti after fleeing east to the Dominican Republic.
Gangs in charge
In 2010, Haiti endured what remains the most devastating earthquake of the 21st century. According to official figures, 316,000 people lost their lives. Today, the country finds itself in yet another catastrophic situation: One that started when President Jovenel Moise was assassinated in his private villa in July 2021. The interim government of Prime Minister Ariel Henry, who also serves as acting president, lacks popular support and protests have become a daily occurrence.
Moreover, seven large gang associations have banded together to take advantage of the resulting power vacuum, according to Haitian authorities. The UN estimates gangs control 60% of Port-au-Prince whereas locals say they are in charge everywhere. The situation led Henry to call for an armed foreign intervention six months ago.
"The latest president in particular has been fiercely opposed during his entire mandate. The president, on his side, did very little to find a compromise, but, on the other side, he had a quite diverse, incoherent and anarchic movement opposing him," said Lombardo from Welthungerhilfe. "Unfortunately, that kind of movement cannot express clear leadership, on the contrary, its anarchy opened the way to a common practice in Haiti, to arm gangs to impose oneself, to the point that the situation went out of control."
Nation breaking up
Lombardo said she has been unable to get much sleep lately because she is repeatedly woken up by nightly gunfire. Such fighting has almost become the new normal in Port-au-Prince. Not long ago, Lombardo received a video showing a primary school near the capital whose walls riddled with bullets and with students lying on the floor in complete panic.
Hait's future looks bleak, Lombardo said. "I feel we are already racing full-speed towards my worst-case scenario. Somebody has already used the noun 'Somalia-ization' to describe the current situation in which we witness the process of territorial fragmentation and a government's failure to establish authority — with all the consequences that has for poverty and human rights violations."

Astronomer au for the ask game 🥺
i love the stars! - oda was a somewhat famous astronomer that taught dazai about it. he carries the memories of that with him a lot - armed detective agency? more like stargazing agency haha (they're a team of astronomers) - 15skk met eachother on the same rooftop (they both wanted to look at the stars) and they got intoa scuffle because no that's chuuya's personal stargazing spot no it's dazai's no it's - shibusawa is only called a collector because he sews constellations and planets onto some of his clothes - the hunting dogs are just a famous team of astronomers that have discovered some constellations and planets

@pompedia : ⭐ cutely puts this here,,,,,
friend I am having to restrain myself a little bit because your muse list is just. a smörgåsbord. OKAY HERE WE GO.
STARFIRE / M'GANN M'ORZZ & ROGUE : SUPERHERO GAL FRIENDS !! I love Starfire and M'gann and I feel like either one of them would get along with Rogue fairly well. They understand the struggles of being way too powerful, but they also have a positivity and love for life that could really stand to rub off on Rogue. She doesn't necessarily have a dedicated DC crossover, but the universes blend well enough. uwu
HONEY LEMON & CAMERON MACCLOUD : Science girlies. Honey Lemon is so incredibly smart, and Cammie is considered a prodigy in her field. I feel like crossing Cammie into the BH6 universe would be so easy, and she's just a little computer coding nerd. Her hobby is hacking government agencies and transferring funds from billionaires to people who need it.
WILLOW PARK / PACIFICA NORTHWEST / STAR BUTTERFLY & AMITY BLIGHT : okay, the Willow connection is obvious so I'm gonna not harp on about that one for too long but I love their friendship, it means so much to me gdi. NOW. Pacifica and Amity? Two rich girls from emotionally abusive homes who had to learn how to be nice because it didn't come naturally but gosh darn if those weird new friends didn't turn their lives around? These two have so much to bond over and I scream about it from the rooftops. AS FOR STAR : Mal and I have an AU for Tom where he and Amity were friends across dimensions due to family exposure. I think it makes perfect sense in that universe for Amity and Star to know one another! ( and honestly, these three muses would also suit any of my other Owl House muses as well but this was where I had ideas. )
BLOOM & ICY : look, is she back on the blog yet? No. Is she coming? Yes. And so am I. To harass you. That's about what I have as far as these two go. >3
IRIS OF EPHEDIA & PRAXINA : same deal as above, a muse I previously had on this blog that I'm restoring back onto it. I love Praxina with my whole chest. Obviously the whole "I'm coming to ruin your life" angle works, but she also has an AU where she's trying to be good and both of these are just brainrot for me.
send ⭐ for a list of muses I would be interested in throwing at yours !!
#pompedia#❮ missallanea / answered ❯ ━━ ❝ did that make sense ?#/ i could keep going but i restrained myself ;w;

;; well!!! >:D (also thank you!!)
;; small warning: later on there is a mention of hospitalisation and overworking yourself to the point of hospitalisation
;; minori and mizuki are partners at the start, two silly thieves doing silly things. the two detectives on their case are haruka and an! minori and mizuki's aliases are clover and amia.
;; the main way i can describe the next bit is: phantom thief minomizu -> ??? -> profit (domestic mizuan happens)
;; minori's reasoning for becoming a thief is that if she gets enough money from the things she takes then she can use it to make the world better right? robin hood reasoning. - haruka and an did notice the odd correlation between the heists and a sudden decrease in other crime and social problems in the area. but this thinking does lead to some unintended consequences later.
;; so now minori is the only phantom thief left in the area and haruka is the one trying to work out what the heck is going on with this case
;; then later on after haruka runs in on minori escaping and they have a very quick chat, minori worries that she offended haruka. so she calls up mizuki to give her a letter who then gives it to an who gives it to haruka.
;; that then leads to minori and haruka meeting on the roof of that detective agency and having a short little talk, mainly consisting on minori saying sorry over and over. haruka offhandedly mentions that she doesn't get paid enough for this job. so she goes to the building the next morning to get another letter from minori, this time with "just over four months of good paychecks for her" in money.
;; typical phantom thief shenanigans insue then minori almost gets shot. ive not explained it but my personal belief is rui was testing out the gun in his phantom thief card and minori happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. so she falls off of a rooftop and haruka catches her. luckily she's in casual clothes otherwise that might not have ended so well.
;; after a while this is when haruka and an get to fight. so canon haruka has problems overworking herself, well. well, haruka has to be reminded by an to eat, drink and sleep. she does the first two. she has not slept in a good week and has a caffeine dependency. so her and an argue (during which haruka is a jerk about it) about the state of her wellbeing until haruka collapses in the middle of it. and this kids is why you should take care of your health!
;; in the time when haruka is recovering in hospital, minori doesn't do any sort of heist because she feels bad. she thinks that she was the reason this happend. thought she visits haruka, saying that she was thankful for her catching her when she fell off of the building. and hey here's those unintended consequences from earlier! minori gets stuck in a loop of thoughts that are basically: she thought she was helping people, only for someone to get badly hurt because of her, so was she really even helping in the first place?
;; so when haruka gets back to her normal life, an is constantly worried about her at work. minori gets word from mizuki that she's alright. so she does one heist and no one comes.
;; she does another. and no one comes. she does a third and finally haruka shows up. so minori is absolutely panicking about if haruka's okay and haruka is just mildly annoyed at the fact this case is still ongoing. minori apologises for the problems she caused for haruka. at some point part of minori's disguise (probably the mask) falls off and haruka realises that one of the people who visited her most in the hospital was the person she's been chasing for the past 7 months-ish. yeah.
;; still working out how parts of it go on from there so im just gonna copy this bit from what i said earlier: phantom thief minori -> ??? -> profit (domestic minoharu happens)
;; other plot points im working on fitting in:
- minori gets her money from selling the things she steals to miku. miku encourages theft!
- married couple shizuai, they're a thing. main museum minori keeps stealing from so haruka has to deal with them a lot. in her sleep deprived state and it's not fun for anyone.
#yeah!! i love my silly ohantom thief au#it started out as me going phantom thief minori would be funny she could be phantom thief c or something#then slowly developing into me revising the economic causes of crime (strain theory)!#also fun fact i didnt know where to put! ambiguous minomizu is there in the sense they only call each other nicknames:#“mizu-chan!” “mino-chan!”#and also minori overhears haruka's name but not the last bit so she calls her “haru-chan!” haruka only calls her “phantom thief clover”
